every body is welcome
At First Church we know that a complete representation of Christ includes people of all abilities and disabilities. Therefore, we strive to make our worship, programs, and building as accessible as possible. That doesn’t mean we do it perfectly, but it does mean that we do our best and we are open to learning and adapting to meet the needs of our guests and members.
In 2025, First Church voted to reform our Accessible to All committee. Accessible to All or “A2A” is the UCC Disability Ministry’s initiative that helps local churches become more accessible & inclusive.

Our Accessibility Options
Mobility
- Our Building has several entrances and exits that are accessible by ramp along the church driveway. Automatic door openers are available on these doors.
- We are currently constructing a new ramp to the main church doors on Court Street, with construction projected to finish late fall 2025. We look forward to celebrating every member being able to use the same door!
- Indoors, all 3 floors of the church are accessible by elevator, and the sanctuary features “pew cuts” for mobility aids during worship.
- Accessible restrooms are located on the main floor and second floor.
Hearing
The sanctuary is fitted with a T-Coil system, and audio headsets are available upon request. Congregational meetings & other programs are held in the Parish Hall, using microphones. We are currently researching technology to help with amplification during small group meetings in other spaces as well.
Visual
Large print bulletins are available every Sunday. Other materials are available in large print upon request. Advanced access to worship materials is also available upon request.
Neuro Diversity
We always have fidget toys, drawing supplies, space to walk or move during church, and a congregation that is well acclimated to some extra movement and noise. That said, neuro diversity needs are broad! Rather than one-sized solutions, we’re learning to meet individuals where they are. Help us know what you need, and we will do our best.
